Was there ever a point in time where ArenaNet had the drop rates change for a week or so as a special event?

Yes, during triple lucky/unlucky weekend the droprate for lockpicks are also doubled. You should be able to find all the weekend events on GW wiki.

they do have occasionally double drop-rate weekends, for golds and lockpicks and stuff. been a while since they last had one, I think

occasionally there are drop rate increases for specific items, but I don't recall an event for golds.

It's only for specific things,following a theme (bosses for example).

Technically, they also had a time where drop rates were universally lowered (for solo farmers anyway) with the introduction of loot scaling a few years back.

I have played GW's for only 1 year and 3 months- but fairly regularly.
I have not complete the prophecy game, all other games I have beaten, although not any "elite" expansion specific missions.

I have found a total of 6 black dye in my entire 1 1/4 years of play. I wish I could tell them i want them to bring back these special events.

Double dye, double scroll, double chance for gold/lockpicks etc. What is the best way to communicate with someone in ArenaNet where a live person is reading and mulling over player suggestions or speak directly with them?

My belief is probably the next event is going to be the event where by various alliances host food parties for celebration (forget what it is) of the game? But in between big events, these little events would be very helpful for some players (dye in particular for me.)

I see you are an elementalist primary. I'd suggest you try raptorfarming for a bit, you will get a lot of dyes from that. At wintersday I spent one day raptorfarming (the rest were mini polar bear farming or nothing), and I got 8 black dyes in that one day. Was lucky, yes, but still, you get a lot of dyes doing it.

6 black dye in 1 1/4 years... An event with a double chance of dye dropping for a weekend wouldn't get you another 6 black dyes all of a sudden, lovedeluxe.RL
